Changing a windscreen – The procedure
Replacing a windscreen can be a complex process. Our team of highly skilled autoglass professionals will ensure an expert job every time. First we carefully remove things like trims, wipers and mouldings to allow clear access. Our go-to tool for removal is the fibre line cutting system as it minimises further damage to the old windscreen. Once the glass is out, the old adhesive is removed so the bonding surface can be cleaned and primed. The new glass is prepped with an adhesion promoter and the poly-urethane adhesive is now applied. Lifting and placement of the new windscreen is done accurately using a Lil’ Buddy Pro setting tool. Reassembly, clean, inspect, done!!
Advanced Driver Assist Systems
Most new cars are now fitted with advanced driver assist safety systems such as ‘Automatic Emergency Braking’ and ‘Lane Departure Warning’ requiring a windscreen mounted smart camera that can detect things like street signs, other cars and line markings on the road. Although the removal and re-installation of these cameras is usually a simple ‘clip-off, clip-on’ procedure they need to be re-calibrated after a windscreen has been changed. Save money… Repair the damage before it spreads. Using state of the art stone chip repair technology we are able to ‘drill and fill’ chipped and cracked windscreens before the damage spreads. Our specialists are fully trained and they will assess the damage and have it fixed in no time.
Most chips will be barely noticeable once completed however you may still be able to see the chip after it has been repaired. We can not guarantee perfect optical quality, however we will be able to restore strength in the glass and prevent further cracking. The best results when repairing chips and cracks are achieved by repairing before moisture and dirt have entered. The longer a chip has been there means more contamination means a less optically clear result. It’s always a good idea to cover the chip with some sticky tape and get it repaired straight away. We use the highest quality Diamond Clear UV resin suitable for windscreens with ADAS and rain sensors and we guarantee our repairs will meet the Australian standards.
